Meet our Senior Regional Director People – KE/IN, Rebecca Maruti

What do you like about Tala?
I am very proud of our company’s culture. I enjoy the simplicity and flexibility of our employees and our leaders. They are all resilient, and their leadership styles effectively navigate uncertain or unpredictable environmental factors. Our employees adapt to change as it comes and can revise their plans to incorporate new innovations and overcome challenges, while still achieving their goals.

How does your role help Tala’s mission?
The overall purpose of my role is to ensure that the organization is able to achieve success through its great people. I work very closely with my people team to achieve this.

Did you always want to be a People leader?
I never thought I’d be where I am today. Initially, when I went to law school, I thought I would make the best judge. After doing a few years of legal work, I found myself in a totally different profession — working and leading people!
I have learned how to remain flexible while staying close to the market trends. It is valuable to understand our strengths. Our ability to evolve as our surroundings change is key to our success. You may unleash hidden strengths that you never knew about.

What should one do to be a great Human Resource Professional?
Every organization needs People leaders who align with the company’s goals and understand what those goals mean to their role. In other words, be totally committed to the values and goals that the business is driving.
When managing people, be that flexible thought partner who truly inspires others. In the new normal, be creative, innovative and always open to learning something new. It is okay to fail forward, but do not forget to take the lessons home.
